Bio
Lala is a contemporary artist, independent arts consultant, and curator based in New York, originally from Southeastern Europe. Her diverse upbringing across Kosovo, Croatia, and Paris has profoundly shaped her artistic perspective.
As Regional Director/Ambassador (volunteer position) for the International Association of Art-USA (IAA-USA) Northeast Region, an official UNESCO partner, Lala served for a year and a half. During this time, she grew a small community into a vibrant network of 40+ members and a Partner Organization. She spearheaded the highly successful World Art Day 2024 celebration, curated a group exhibition of 20 artists, and secured key sponsorships. In 2025, she coordinated a World Art Day workshop for 20 children, blending art and history through interactive puzzles and storytelling. Lala also enhanced IAA-USA’s visibility through high-level engagements with cultural institutions and galleries.
Lala refined her artistic vision in Montmartre, Paris, where she received transformative mentorship and specialized training that shaped her creative journey. Her work is deeply influenced by the Croatian and Kosovo wars of the 90s and the loss of her husband to cancer, experiences that sparked a decade-long hiatus from painting. It was her daughter’s bicoastal journey between Los Angeles and New York that reignited Lala’s artistic spirit, allowing her to rediscover painting as a cathartic means of honoring memory and processing grief.
Lala’s art fuses abstract expressionism with magical surrealism, blending memories with dreams to explore life’s emotional complexities. Her work captures the interplay of light and dark, life and death, evoking deep reflection and emotional resonance. Inspired by Pollock, Rothko, and other visionaries, Lala continues to push the boundaries of storytelling through visual language.
An accomplished artist, curator, and consultant, Lala has exhibited in prestigious group and solo shows across Europe and the U.S. She remains dedicated to mentoring emerging artists and collaborating across diverse artistic communities, leaving an enduring impact on the global arts landscape.
